With the temps nearly hitting triple digits here in Tulsa, OK....it officially feels like summer. That being said...I need pool/beach/Hamptons type accessories, clothes and makeup.
The items above are what I'm currently "summer lovin'"
In my opinion, when going to any type of summer event, whether at the pool or outdoor, I want to be tan, have by make-up look shimmery and bright (and long lasting), and to wear pops of color.
The cream shadows from Bobbi Brown are unreal amazing! You are literally go swimming underwater and your shadow will still look in place and perfect when you come up for air. I call this shadow my "mermaid" shadow b/c it's so shimmery and pretty! My favorite color is Goldstone.
The Chanel lipstick color I use every day is L'Exuberante in Rouge Allure Velvet. It's gorgeous and looks stunning on tan skin. Like the BB shadow, this lipstick does not move ALL DAY. It's magic!
Rodan and Fields is my skincare regimen of choice and their sunless tanner is in HIGH demand. Dries within minutes, unscented and does not make you look orange. It's in my makeup bag ALL summer.
Need a good book for by the pool? Check out Luckiest Girl Alive! Comparable to Gillian Flynn's novels and also a favorite of Reese Witherspoon.
I hope to be poolside all weekend daydreaming of more summer goodies and purchasing everything else above that I don't already own!

I'm a total sucker for all things beauty. Cosmetics, hair supplies, facial regimens, nails...you name it, I love it! 

I want to give you all a brief little comment of everything above (in order of images) so you can rush out and buy them...b/c this is something I would totally do.
 

-Eos lip balm: I honestly have one of these in my purse, desk drawer, nightstand, gym bag, car console, and bathroom. I can't get enough. They are the perfect size and the best moisturizer for my lips. My favorite flavor is the coconut milk.

 

-Bliss Body Butter: I never run out of this stuff. It is amazing and hands down the best lotion I have ever used. I usually buy the HUGE size at Nordstrom Rack.

 

-Catwalk Fashionista purple shampoo: I'm a recent blondie and the thought of having brassy locks terrifies me. This shampoo is magic..no really. It turns my color from blah to gorg, making my blonde light and shiny.

 

-Moroccan Oil treatment: I use all Moroccan Oil products, but this is my favorite. Makes my coarse, naturally curly hair soft and manageable. I use it on both wet and dry hair. Plus it smells like heaven.

 

-TIGI Masterpiece shine hairspray: I am not a big hairspray user. Mostly b/c volume is the last thing I need. This spray is amazing. It holds hair in place and makes it glisten without causing hair to be stiff. I LOVE.

 

-Urban Decay All-Nighter setting spray: I have raved about this product MANY times on the blog. It is my absolute favorite product. Spray this of your face after make-up is applied and it will literally look the exact same HOURS later. I don't run out of this product.

 

-Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow: This is another product I swear by. My favorite shade is Goldstone. I especially love this in the summer b/c it seriously won't crease or come off...even in water.

 

-Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick: I have this lipstick in several colors. Favorite: L'Exuberante. It says in place for hours and doesn't ever crack or give lips that chalky look. Worth every penny.

 

-Sally Hansen Gel polish: I literally DO NOT have time to get my nails painted with shellac every 10 days. I found this polish at Target, gave it a try and am now HOOKED. With no light needed, you apply this polish and then the clear gel top coat and BAM...shellac nails in 2 minutes. I have found it to last a minimum of 10 days. It's amazing and a real money saver. Favorite colors: Birthday Suit and All Chalked Up.

 

-Remington hair wand: I bought this wand at Ulta 2 years ago and believe it gives my hair the most beautiful curls. So if you wanna look like a Victoria Secret model (obviously just their hair) then get this tool.

 

-Rodan + Fields Amp MD System: I'm only 31, but I owe Rodan + Fields for keeping me without a wrinkle thus far. This system is incredible and I will sing it's praises every day. Use this noninvasive roller over face and then apply night renewing serum with Retinol to give your lines/wrinkles a filler without the money or pain. Link: hholliday.myrandf.com

I am often asked about what cosmetics I use....well here ya go! I LOVE make-up and always have! I try to learn everything I possibly can about application and color scheme.

Since I have an olive complexion and green eyes, I tend to go for browns, greens and purples for eyeshadow. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a smoky eye. I recently have been using MAC Paint Pot in Painterly to apply all the way up to my brows before putting on shadow. This helps with creasing and works wonders.

I usually wear MAC false lashes when going out or to an event, but on regular days I use Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced (get at Ulta or Sephora). I have always been a Chanel mascara gal but I really have liked the way this lengthens my lashes.

Speaking of Chanel...their long-wear lipstick is the BEST I have ever worn. I apply at 6:30 in the morning and after several cups of coffee and lunch, it still looks perfect. I like this particular brand b/c it also doesn't flake off.

I top off my finished product every day with Urban Decay All Nighter finishing spray. You guys, this stuff is magic and I'm not even kidding. Your make-up literally won't move and will look the same as it did when you first applied it. I never let myself run out of this.

Nothing is hotter than pink lips on tan skin in the summer...unless those lips are sipping bubbly.  These are my FAVORITE colors for the summer and I own them all! Since bright pink is such an intense pop of color, I recommend doing a low key shimmery eye. Whether you are at the pool or patio, your lips will be the life of the party in any of these fantastic shades!

There are definitely many things that I 'Go Big or Go Home' on when it comes to spending money, but if I can cut corners I absolutely take FULL advantage. Here is a list of my BIG SPENDING items and the stuff I buy that makes me Thrifty (not a common term I use when describing myself)

 

 

 

SPLURGE

Handbags- I can't help it...I'm a sucker for designer bags! The classics never go out of style and can make even sweats look posh.

Foundation-In my opinion, if you wear cheap foundation...your face will reflect it. Foundation is something I pay extra for.

Underwear-I'm a total bra and panty snob. I ONLY wear Hanky Panky or Commando panties and don't plan on changing any time soon.  Call me crazy but underwear is a necessity, so comfort is key. These are things I wear every day, so it's justified.

Haircare-I have used LOTS of hair products in my life from both the salon and drug stores. I've gotta go with the expensive brand on this one.

Skincare-This is a NO BRAINER. Don't expect your skin to look like a million dollars if you pay $15. This doesn't mean you have spend a fortune but when it comes to my skin, I want quality.

Shoes-I learned this lesson the hard way in college. Cheap shoes (we aren't talking sale items) will ruin your feet. $20 Target heels may look darling but after a night out, you wish someone would just amputate your foot.

 

SAVE

Nail Polish-It doesn't matter what brand of polish you buy, it all seems to work the same.

Plain Tees-paying a ridiculous amount for a plain blk/white/grey tee is absurd. I buy mine at Target for $9 and you can't tell they aren't American Apparel or James Perse.

Cocktail Jewelry-(with the exception of Kendra Scott) I am not a fan of paying ungodly amounts of money on costume jewelry. These pieces are only trendy for so long. I buy the majority of mine from Forever 21, H & M or boutiques.

Food-This does NOT mean restaurants b/c I am a huge foodie. However, when I go grocery shopping I don't mind saving here and there for the Target brands vs name brands. It's the exact same thing and no one will look in your cabinet and judge you. The only name brand thing I recommend is buying Johnson & Johnson Q-tips...long story but trust me on this one.

Make-Up Remover, soap, household cleaning supplies-like groceries, I am not opposed to buy Target brand of anything. There is no need to spend $30 on MAC make-up remover when you can buy UP and UP wipes at Target for $5. They do the exact same thing. I rather spend my money on things you can actually see me wearing.

Boos-I am a "cheap date" when stocking my bar cart at home. I usually don't ever spend over $20 for a bottle or wine or champs. In fact, I prefer some of the cheaper labels. No Dom for this girl...unless you are buying of course :)

Jeans-my days of spending $200 on a pair of jeans is over. Unless they make me look like Gisele, I won't ever do this again. I buy all of my jeans from Gap, JCrew Factory or Nordstrom Rack. No more pricy denim for this girl.

I literally need everything shown above to start my morning routine. The Rodan + Fields Redefine Line is a MUST. Now that I am getting older, it is SO important to keep my skin moisturized and wrinkle free! I have never used anything so powerful with such fast results. R + F Sunless Tanning Foam is also a streak free way to give my skin that summer, sun-kissed glow. I sometimes don't get enough sleep at night, so Bobbi Brown concealer kit is vital for under my eyes in the morning. It turns me into a different person in seconds.  I wear Bobbi Brown cream shadow in Goldstone every day morning or night. This stuff honestly doesn't crease or come off without makeup remover. It's gorgeous and I constantly get compliments on it's amazing shimmer.  Since I am big on enhancing my lashes, I use Chanel volume mascara and Laura Mercier lash curler religiously. These are both also found in my purse! And last but not least, I finish my mornings with 3 sprays of Urban Decay makeup setting spray to keep my face flawless and smudge free ALL day (and sometimes night).  These products are honestly my saving grace and I would not be the person many of you see every day with them.
